The Family Office community is one of the oldest, largest, and most active long term strategic and financial investor bases across Africa; from angel investors, funding venture capital, private equity co-investments, to running family-owned conglomerates.

The Club's commitment to supporting education and career advancement extends beyond Club’s networking/business activities, Alumni Job Postings, WCA-Wharton/Lauder admissions recruiting ... with active WCA support for local community career advancement and education initiatives – including for children, pre-university, and local Africa unversity graduates ... maybe future applicants to Wharton?

 

This has included / includes:

  • Free attendance in 2013-2016 for local university students at the annual Executive Summit facilitating networking for jobs and intellectual exchange
  • WCA Internships which led to full time positions for WCA interns including at Standard Bank
  • Support for local Entrepreneurs in accessing mentors, media exposure, and raising venture and angel investment capital
  • Facilitation to Tony Elumelu Foundation in expanding community network in Nairobi in support of 2013 entrepreneurship program
  • Africa Art Auction in support of entrepreneurs and emerging artists
  • Fundraising in 2016 in support of the Ethiopian Childrens Fund which provides education, nutrition, and primary healthcare to ages 6-18 through its schools and community programs.

 

In 2016, the Club also launched the WCA MBA Scholarship Program to provide incremental financial support for Wharton / Lauder Admits from Africa.
